You can choose...what will be in the air that you breathe today.

Fresh Outside Air (make-up air) makes up to 10% - 20% of the air inside your building.

If your office building is near a freeway, then your building's fresh air contains Ozone, VOC, & Diesel PM2.5 air pollution from vehicle traffic.

The air pollution from traffic can become quite concentrated on stretches of road that see bumper-to-bumper traffic.

We Measure the Outdoor Air and compare it with your Indoor Air.

We can improve your Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).

Licensed Texas Air Conditioning Contractor TACLA3878C with special endorsement for IAQ.

Air Quality Alert    --  Houston under ozone alert today

Ozone Watch Issued The Texas Commission On Environmental Quality...Has Issued An Ozone Watch For The Houston...Galveston...And Brazoria Areas For Monday August 20, 2012. Atmospheric Conditions Are Expected To Be Favorable For Producing High Levels Of Ozone Pollution In The Houston...Galveston...And Brazoria Areas. Elevated Concentrations Of Ozone Can Act As A Lung Irritant. Individuals With Chronic Lung Disease...Such As Asthma And Emphysema...And The Elderly And Small Children...Are Particularly Sensitive To Ozone And Should Attempt To Avoid Exposure. To Avoid Exposure...Minimize Exertion Outdoors During The Mid-Day To Early Evening Hours Or Stay Indoors In An Air Conditioned Area During This Time. Ozone Reaching Excessive Levels At Any Site In The Area May Move To Or From Other Sites Within The Area...Depending On Wind Direction And Other Factors. Excessive Levels May Linger Until Sunset. Ozone Warnings Will Be Issued If Air Pollution Levels Are Detected At Unhealthy Levels.

March through October
An ozone exceedance day is counted if the measured eight-hour average ozone concentration exceeds the standards. Ozone 8 - Hour 76 ppb

Because ozone needs sunlight to form, its levels usually peak at mid-afternoon on hot, sunny days March through October.

Air Alliance Houstonís executive director, Matthew Tejada.  The only way a person can protect their lungs from ozone is to not expose your lungs to ozone.

Diesel Fumes - Soot

The World Health Organization and its International Agency for Research on Cancer, considers diesel fuel exhaust to be a carcinogen as dangerous as secondhand smoke.

EPA cracks down on soot pollution

The new annual standard will be 12 micrograms per cubic meter, helping to protect those especially vulnerable to air pollution, including the one in 11 U.S. children with asthma. Soot is one of the deadliest types of air pollution. It can cause heart attacks, asthma attacks, and even premature death. Recent studies have found a possible association with autism as well.

Indoor Air Quality at Work

Houston Freeway Traffic

Over 1.5 Million Cars / Trucks per week travel on the 610 Loop near the Galleria.

Emissions from cars and trucks are responsible for half of all the air pollution in Houston TX

The air pollution from traffic can become quite concentrated on stretches of road that see bumper-to-bumper traffic.

The stale indoor air CO2 / VOC chemicals have to be replaced with "Fresh Outdoor Air" (make-up air).

If your office building is near a freeway, then your fresh air contains air pollution from car and trucks. Ozone & PM2.5 air pollution.

Houston Freeway Traffic

Every week 500,000 to 1.5 Million Cars / Trucks are driving on the 610 Loop, Hwy 59, I-10, I-45, Beltway 8 , Hwy 290.  |

TX DOT 2010 Report

The only way to know your indoor air quality is to measure it for Particles and VOC Chemicals.

We Measure the Outdoor Air and compare it with the Indoor Air.

Office employees working near a Houston Freeway.

Indoor Air Quality is 40,000 particles / ft3 @ >0.5 micron.

Office workers inhale 1 million Lung Damaging Particles per work day (2,160 per minute) that will stay inside the employee's lungs.

Diesel Soot is made up of microscopic particles (< 1 micron) released from diesel trucks and buses.

W.H.O. Declares Diesel Fumes Cause Lung Cancer.

Dr. Albert Rizzo of the American Lung Association

"Particle pollution at levels currently labeled as officially "EPA SAFE" causes asthma attacks, heart attacks, and strokes.

Car Emissions May Hike Autism Risk

Action Points

This study was designed to examine the relationship between traffic-related air pollution using measures of nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter and autism.

The investigators found that children with autism were more likely to live at residences that had the highest exposure to traffic-related air pollution, during gestation and during the first year of life.

Lung Damaging Dust - Asthma is the most common childhood disease. This picture shows that the 0.5 micron particles are deposited deep in the Lung's Alveoli.

Our Lungs Filter out 15% of the Lung Damaging Dust Particles from the air in the 0.5 micron size range.

The Alveoli in our Lungs

Once these lung damaging dust particles enter your lungs they are trapped inside causing lung and heart disease.

MERV 11 / 13 Polypropylene Air Filter prevents these lung damaging dust particles from entering your lungs.

Texas Drilling Boom Affects Air Pollution

Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, has made it possible to tap into deep reserves of oil and gas but has also raised concerns about air pollution.

The worries about what drilling does to the air are both global and local, with scientists concerned about the effects on climate change as well as the possible health consequences from breathing smog, soot and other pollutants.

Second Hand Smoke - Apartment Living

Even if you don't allow smoking in your apartment, your neighbor's cigarettes could affect you, according to a study.

Secondhand smoke can cause disease and premature death in non-smokers; it potentially affects about 44 million Americans who live in multi-unit housing each year, including 27.6 million to 28.9 million with smoke-free apartments or condos, according to the study by researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
